Recently, an uptick in safety incidents has lead to the Executive Committee to recommend changes ensuring new members who have not yet taken the New Members Course are adequately informed of safety procedures prior to attending Range 7.
The incidents reported include:
- improper handling of firearms during cease fires
- unsafe handling of firearms during shooting
- new members improperly supervising guests
- new members conflicting with staff because of unfamiliarity with stated procedures
Beginning immediately:
New Members requirements starting September 2020
- Newly registered Members are asked to read the provided course material and sign a declaration that they have read it PRIOR to their being allowed to attend Range 7 or 10.
- Members who have not yet taken the New Members Course may NOT bring guests. Only members with stickers showing they passed the course may have guests.
- The club commits to increasing New Members Course scheduling
The purpose of this is to close the gap between the time members sign up and when they take the course.
