Black Powder

Black powder is the colorful shooting sport that recreates the firearms used in Canada’s history. At rendezvous around the provinces, costumed shooters using authentic and reproduction black powder firearms compete for awards and recognition… and fun!

The black powder cartridge firearms used cover the total range, from the very early models to the introduction of smokeless powder. Handgun events are also included for those who want to use them for competition.

Shooting Events and Competitions

PCDHFC holds black powder shooting events on the first Sunday of every month, except July, August, and September. The events run from 9:30 am until 2:00 pm.

There is also the Doc Harrison Memorial Turkey Shoot in December, the Ernie Durance Memorial Shoot in April, and the Jim Mortimer Musket match in July.
