Our newest committee practices the oldest form of modern pistol target shooting. The WIPL shooters run practices and matches in the Western International Pistol League. That’s “international” as in the International Shooting Sports Federations (ISSF) and the Olympic games. This is classic one handed, straight arm shooting at round paper targets 25m away, mainly with 22LR target pistols, although there’s a centre fire event as well. Revolvers are more than welcome too. There’s no better way to focus on accuracy in slow and rapid fire. The rules are simple and the atmosphere’s relaxed.
The WIPL committee will host an open house at Range 4 from 10 till noon on Saturday, September 12. We’ll have a few target pistols available to try out, for right and left hand shooters, and by all means bring your own. Any PCDHFC member with an RPAL is welcome to drop by. RUC certification is unnecessary to participate in this and other WIPL events. If you can’t make the September 12 open house but would like to learn more, you can check out one of our twice monthly Saturday practice sessions, posted on the PCDHFC calendar.
