LEASE UPDATE
The board of PCDHFC is pleased to inform the membership and users of the range that the City of Coquitlam has approved the continuance of our lease for the next three year period. Due to the hard work of our renewal committee, our community partners and the timely input from our range users including law enforcement agencies and the cooperation of the City planning department we were able to impress upon City Council our importance to the Tri-Cities community. We thank all involved for their contribution to ensure our current operation. It is our hope the time we have been given will be used as a foundation for long-term plans to preserve our club within the region.
NOTICE OF CHANGES TO OPERATIONS DUE TO INSPECTION
EFFECTIVE Monday, December 30th
In July 2018 our facilities were scrutinized by the inspector of the Chief Firearms Officer of B.C. as part of a new round of inspections of all ranges in B.C./Yukon. After lengthy delay late last week we have finally received a report that contains deficiencies and directives that we are bound to address so that we can continue operating. Effective immediately and applicable to ALL users:
- Range 10 is temporarily shut down – plans are being drafted now to raise all berms to acceptable height and design.
- Range 7
- Pistol shooting is now suspended due to risk of overshooting and ground-strikes
- Prone shooting is now suspended due to risk of overshooting
- No targets may be placed at 200m due to risk of overshooting
- Plans will be explored to raise the berm to acceptable height and to improve the mid-berms to acceptable angle
- Range 1
- Pistol shooting is restricted to within 18m of the berm
- Rifle must be shot within 40m
- Range 3
- Pistol shooting is restricted to within 25m of the berm
- Rifle must be shot within 40m
- There are no changes to Ranges 2, 4, 5, 6
Mitigation: Your board is committed to whatever effort is necessary to return our facilities to the standards expected by our members and users while respecting the safety conditions laid down by the CFO. Updates will be published as soon as plans are validated. For specific questions on range use, please direct inquiries to range staff or to rangemaster@pcdhfc.com.
