Our stalwart volunteers at our Grist-Goesen Memorial Hatchery have reported great returns for Coho but mixed results for other species returning to the Coquitlam River.
Life-member Norm Fletcher reported:
Last Thursday we had an all-time high single day count of over 1600 coho. There were a lot of fresh ones as well that had just moved in after last weeks rain event. And we are not even at peak escapement yet! Looks like a great year for coho, though the chum and pink runs were below average sadly.
The Tri-Cities News has also picked up the news which hopefully gives our hard-working hatchery volunteers some well-deserved praise.
