The Como Lake Derby is scheduled for May 31, 2026 from 8am to noon. We are sponsoring and managing this event and could use more volunteers.
This is a youth fishing event (16 years and younger) that the Club has put on for almost all of its existence, and is the biggest exposure we have to the general public in Coquitlam. We need volunteer coverage from 6am to 1 or 2pm to set up and take down tents and perhaps empty garbage from the city provided bins and generally ensure the site is clean when we leave. There are prizes, including fishing rod packages, and some trophies for those participating and catching fish. The Kinsmen put on a pancake breakfast at this event. If you aren’t able to help but have young children consider coming to the derby for some family fun and fishing.
Please contact Jack Fletcher at pres@pcdhfc.com if you are interested and able to help with this
important community event.
Thank you, Jack Fletcher

The event is hosted by the Port Coquitlam & District Hunting and Fishing Club. Hundreds of prizes are awarded each year for a variety of catches, from the largest and smallest fish to the strangest catch of the day. The fishing derby attracts hundreds of children each year. As the children fish, parents are welcome to enjoy a pancake breakfast cooked by the Coquitlam Kinsmen Club. Remember to bring your own fishing pole and bait!
