Every year the Port Coquitlam and District Hunting and Fishing Club is proud to support the annual Port Coquitlam Rivers and Trails Day (part of World Rivers Day) held every last Sunday of September at Lions Park. Rivers and Trails Day celebrates and spread awareness for protecting our fresh water streams, rivers and associated trails.
Along with our stewardship of the Coquitlam River, PCDHFC established and maintained the Grist Goesen Hatchery with our partners the Kwikitlem First Nation, BC Hydro, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the many other partners.
Rivers and Trails Day allows PCDHFC to educate children, families and the public of the need to foster fish species and habitat through a scheduled release of smolts by children themselves in the nearby stream.
